  • Introduction to Wind Turbine Rotor Aerodynamics

This workshop provides an introduction to wind turbine rotor aerodynamics, with an emphasis on blade element momentum theory. The content has been modified from an upper-level undergraduate mechanical engineering course which uses the textbook "Wind Energy Explained (2nd Edition)" by Manwell, McGowan and Rogers. Each unit will note the relevant sections in the textbook for supplemental reading. Please note that purchasing the textbook is NOT required.

  • Modeling Wind Turbines with the OpenFAST Code

This workshop is designed for anyone, particularly scientists and engineers, with an interest in wind energy, wind turbine technology, and aerodynamics. Participants will obtain in-depth knowledge of the OpenFAST tool for simulating the coupled dynamic response of wind turbines.
